Watch Bruno slide and fly – but why?
Softly softly. Germany’s Bruno Kammerl has built a very big waterslide and is showing it off on his very own YouTube channel. He claims to be a master of material science and engineering, though his Softslide looks less engineered, more put together. However, click the play button and you’ll believe Bruno can fly… and execute a safe landing.
‘All doubts were unfounded. The 35.2-meter jump distance was the first Softslide practice test with real people (me) under real conditions,’ Bruno tells us.
And he has recorded his philosophy for English-speakers. Watch and listen here.
Fake or not?
The bloggers took up his cause, though a pinch of salt had clearly been passed around. ‘Too crazy to be real,’ said one. ‘Please be real,’ said another.
The reveal? He’s doing it for Megawoosh. Slogan: ‘Mach es machbar’, which means ‘Make it makeable’. OK, sometimes these things don’t quite translate, but ‘Do it doable’ is worse.
Anyhow, go to Megawoosh.com and you’ll see Bruno has (possibly) been grandstanding for Microsoft. ‘Denkbar, Planbar. Machbar’. And that means ‘Thinkable. Plannable. Doable’. (We’re getting better at this stuff).
brand-e.biz: Bruno’s planning an English version of his website this week, so look out for better translations than we’ve managed so far. However, we still need convincing that MS is behind this…
