VW and the crowdsourced app
Das App. Look out for the App My Ride contest from Volkswagen, launching 3rd May. What is it? It’s a bit of crowdsourcing from the car brand which is asking designers, developers, programmers, and anyone else really to pitch in and come up with ideas for new infotainment ideas for cars.
The most innovative app will be chosen by the App My Ride community and a jury of VW managers and external experts.
“The participants are supposed to imagine what the purpose of their ideal infotainment system is and how it would work, and now they have the opportunity to make it a reality,” says Dr Peter Oel, head of control designs and drivers” at VW research. “At the same time, [they] can analyse the existing apps on our platform and discuss their design, uses and purposes.”
