Video trio plugs Ministry of Sound boss book
By Steve Mullins. Clip trio. James Palumbo has got himself three viral videos to promo his new book, Tomas. Palumbo is the co-founder of Ministry of Sound, the London club-cum-lifestyle brand (mission statement: ‘to create the moments that people live for’), and Tomas is a novel about a reluctant celeb who becomes a messiah (there’s plenty more but we don’t really have the space in the opening paragraph).
The three videos are the work of production house Mainframe which developed them with MoS’s brand innovation unit MSHK. The illustrator is Neal Murran from Breed London.
To give you a flavour of the three animated clips, we offer you an excerpt from Warrington’s Tomas Q&A with filmmaking, animation and design website Motionographer.
“I wanted to match the detail of the animation to the detail of the drawings, which was quite daunting; animating enormous breasts, a dripping penis and exploding heads was all new territory, but I always found a means to an end,” he says. “The most ambitious was the first shot in cocks away where we are flying through the night sky of French Riviera amongst a squadron of cock bombers. Due to time limitations, I created the whole thing in 2.5D, building the bombers out of flat ribs like a toy balsa wood plane. Once in silhouette, they looked right.”
The entire Q&A is here.
For the three videos – Cocks Away, Champagne Fuelled Jungle, Torture Truffles & Truth – follow this link, though remember, they’re not for the queasy.
“To show off. To have. It’s that simple.” The world according to Tomas.
