Uniqlo puts the cool in calendar

  • Sharebar

unicoll1Days time. Foxy digital calendar from cool clothier Uniqlo. Last year the Japanese brand gave us a widget, the Uniqlock, which offered music, dance video… and the time. No surprise, then, to see firm stepping it up to offer us the days, months and seasons. There’s a focus on the latter given that it determines our wardrobe, of course.
Great graphics… but wait, there’s more in the form of tilt-shift photography. We highlighted the technique just last week, in fact, with work from Keith Loutit – and we think this is the man in action. (If our Japanese were better, we might be able to confirm). Anyway, the Uniqlo Calandar boasts tilt-shift video from 32 locations in seven Japanese cities. Attention-grabbing indeed.
“The site contains not just a calendar but also a tool that supplies weather information from a user-selected location,” the company says. “Also, when the visuals on the site are clicked on, the screen switches to a view that displays new Uniqlo products released for that month in a photo mosaic style. Users can enjoy the site as a product catalog that changes along with the seasons.”
The music? Fantastic Plastic Machine and sax player Yasuaki Shimizu with a remix of Liszt’s Liebesträume.
