Those Golden Givers go on spending
Will affluent young women drag the US out of recession? Well, the power shopping of this demographic – we’re talking under 45 years of age with an annual $150k income and $7k-a-month credit card spend here – is helping out, given that these ladies increased their spending some 4% in the downturn, and 15% during the recovery, according to research from American Express Business Insights.
By the way, AmEx calls these free-spending ladies ‘Golden Givers’ because of their penchant for charitable donations (up 4% during the recession).
