Video contest community Mofilm has announced the first-place winners of the Cannes Lions 2010 Make An Ad competition with nine of the world’s leading brands, including AT&T, Bud Light, Coca-Cola, Coca-Cola Light, Coca-Cola Zero, Kodak, Lego, Logitech and Nokia.

By Hugh Jordan. Community creative. All is not what it seems at Eyeka. The website- pronounced I-Ka- started life in France as an offering similar to iStock Photo. But over the last five years, its owners have evolved the proposition and now, with offices in Paris and Singapore already, and over 85,000 members worldwide, the newly opened London arm looks set to make a splash in the UK.
“Back then the [stock photo] product was very commoditised,” says Stephen Wise, md of Eyeka’s London operation. “Eyeka’s owners realised the value was in the community rather than the end-product. We have moved from a technological platform perspective to an interactive platform for brands and users.”

Campaign collaboration. “Co-creation has grown quicker than anything in the history of advertising,” says Gary Robinson, creative partner at London agency Farm, one of the founding members of the Co-Creation Hub. “That sounds like quite a grand statement but look at how quickly the whole social media phenomenon has taken off. Once a few case studies have come out and people can see the results, then there will be more interest.”
Still in its embryonic stages – the Hub only formed at the start of this year - co-creation has already been applied to communications, product development, even to politics. Nestlé and Unilever have both been impressed with results of their co-created campaigns. Surely it’s only a matter of time?

Totally filmic. Brands are coming on all Tinseltown. Eurostar’s involvement in the feature Somers Town was starting to look lonely when it came to brands really backing film. Clap app. The iPad could be a boon to movie making. How? We’ll tell you. Hukilau has just launched its Slate app for Apple’s new gear. The digital slate – aka the clapperboard – boasts the usual fields for items such as the production name and scene number. Plus, and this could be the kicker, if you shake that iPad you get an authentic clapping sound.
