Volkswagen has published a dedicated iPad app for the launch of the new Golf R in the US. The Gold R Drivers Forever app features exclusive Golf videos, photos, interviews and articles, enthusiast stories, plus an illustrated timeline highlighting the history of the car.


Getting Smart with Facebook

Car brand Smart has rolled out a Facebook app which enables users to personalise Facebook from a mosaic of images for deployment on the social network’s new timeline. The social media campaign aims to promote its Smart Brabus initiative which lets customers customise their vehicles.


BMW’s city Lab in numbers

Chevy gets a film wall

The car brand’s campaign attracted close to 200 submissions from 32 countries, and the competition’s clips can now be viewed on the web in nine markets.


Hertz drives music moves

hertz-musicHertz has partnered with Live Nation Entertainment to launch the multi-year Movin With Music sponsorship and marketing campaign, writes Mark Terry. The initiative includes consumer engagement programmes, the launch of Hertz Live Radio –to be streamed at the car hire brand’s locations and on buses – and the Hertz Music Store where Hertz Gold Plus Rewards members will be able to use reward points to get music online.


Re:Generation – music with Hyundai

hyundaiHyundai America has joined forces with The Recording Academy – known for the Grammys – to become its ‘Official Vehicle Partner’, says Mark Terry. The car brand’s first collaboration with The Academy is the Re:Generation Music Project, a documentary film following five DJs who, through their use of technology,  ‘are changing the way the world creates and experiences music’.


Driving the branded dog

Honda has rolled out a video for the Civic, and the brand has gone and made it interactive. That doesn’t mean viewers get to drive the car. Oh no. You see, it features one of those dogs which likes to sit on the back seat and stick its head out of the back window where the breeze can get at it. With this piece of video interactivity, distributed by Unruly, viewers can whistle at the hound to come to the car


Escaping with Mercedes

Mercedes-Benz is asking consumers to Escape The Map with Marie. “Destined to a life of solitude within the confines of Streetview, Marie needs your help to escape,” says the brand. “It’s a strange world inside Streetview, and its effects on the human mind can be surprising, a place where life is anything but ordinary – a world full of glitches and digital vortexes.”
