Caffrey’s rolls out radio shows on Spotify

caffrey'sBeer brand Caffrey’s has teamed up with Spotify to roll out a series of exclusive radio shows on the music-streaming platform. The four programmes will be fronted by radio and TV presenter Pete Donaldson and Alex Zane, from Channel 4′s Rude Tube. Users of Spotify’s free service in the UK will see and hear ads and homepage takeovers which will direct them to Caffrey’s campaign site where they can vote on their favourite ‘redefined’ classic songs in line with the brand tagline ‘Redefining Smooth. The most popular nominated songs will be featured on one of the Caffrey’s Redefined Classics radio shows.


Filmed Departure

Virgin America, Virgin Atlantic Airways and Virgin Australia have joined forces to produce a short film, Departure Date, shot in 20 hours, across three continents and on three commercial flights while at 35,000 feet (a first, according to the airlines).


I Am Playr pulls in a huge crowd

Clarks to release new reggae tracks

clarks-reggaeTo celebrate 40 years of the Originals Desert Trek and the boot’s role in Jamaican culture, shoe brand Clarks has joined forces with reggae record label Trojan Records to roll out new branded songs, writes Steve Mullins. For the #OriginalsRemixed campaign, Clarks will take Trojan’s hit Let Your Yeah Be Yeah from The Pioneers and task four DJs and producers – Tokimonsta, Mighty Crown, Riva Starr and Toddla Tto produce new tracks which will made made available for exclusive free download on the Originals site in July.


5 for the music Switch

Wrigley’s 5 gum has launched the second performance set of The Switch, a live online music event where viewers can choose the artist to suit their moods. Audiences tuning in to the Switch YouTube channel could plum for either an energising performance from Childish Gambino or a relaxing set from Other Lives.


Grolsch bows first movie at film fest

grolsch-film-worksGrolsch Film Works and Vice will premiere of experimental feature film, The Fourth Dimension, at the San Francisco International Film Festival this weekend, writes Steve Mullins. The movie, starring Val Kilmer, is the first production from the Film Works – which launched in April 2011 to champion global film talent – and is the result of a collaborative effort for three directors: Harmony Korine from the US, Russia’s Alexsei Fedorchenko and Polish-born Jan Kwiecinski.


Mo music for brands

Music-licensing outfit AudioSocket is partnering with crowdsourcing agency Mofilm so that filmmakers in the Mofilm community will be able to plug into a MoMusic platform and directly license music from the Audiosocket catalogue, which features tracks from independent bands and composers.


Stars head to Starwood for branded gigs

jamie-cullumStarwood Hotels is partnering with Live Nation to launch the On Tour with Starwood Preferred Guest: Hear the Music, See the World programme which will allow SPG members to go to exclusive music events in Dubai, Macau, Santiago, Paris, Miami and other locations. “Each event will be conducted at a hotel within Starwood’s portfolio of nine iconic brands and will come to life as a musical representation of each brand,” says Starwood. “Nine artists will be carefully selected to represent the essence of each brand.”
