Some of the UK’s top illustrators will see their work going under the hammer on 4 October at the Illustration Cupboard in central London – with all sales proceeds going to Amnesty International. The seven illustrators – John Burningham, Polly Dunbar, Chris Riddell, Satoshi Kitamura, Axel Scheffler, Korky Paul and Jackie Morris – all contributed to the book We Are All Born Free, and it is their original artwork which will be auctioned off.

The outfit says it is working with Sony/ATV Music Publishing, Park Road Post, and Full Fathom Five, on a ‘new genre of entertainment – soundtracks for books’.
Readers can access Booktrack editions at the Apple App Store and download The Power of Six for iPhone, iPad and iTouch – the service will be coming soon to Android and other devices.

Tweet Pie: The World’s Shortest Recipe Book has gone on sale. What is it? It’s a compilation of crowdsourced recipes put together by Belling. The UK cooker brand put out a call for ‘twecipes’ via Twitter earlier this year and the result is a bound copy of short-form recipes for starters, main meals, desserts, drinks, and snacks.

By Steve Mullins. Publisher Penguin UK has joined forces with social media outfit PeerIndex to promote the new novel from writer Hari Kunzru. The idea behind the campaign is to identify topical influencers and generate word of mouth.
“We have teamed up with Hari Kunzru ahead of the launch of his new novel Gods Without Men,” says PeerIndex. “We are working with him to give exclusive early access to [the book] a month before it hits the shelves.”
