OK, early adopters of new technology are pretty much always mostly male, but when it comes to digital pinboarding its women taking a strong lead, with Pinterest currently tilting 80% female. And Pinners care more about visual art and design (by a factor of 5.3 times), crafts (4.8 times) and hobbies and leisure (3.3 times) than other online users. Plus Pinners are predominantly aged 25 to 54, with 55% using iPads to pin. And the retail brands Pinners love best? Barney’s, Nordstrom and Sephora.
