Nokia tests the story waters

Reality narrative. Hollywood-based Nokia Research Center has begun a private pilot of its research project, the Westwood Experience. The venture aims to explore “how a compelling narrative, combined with a user’s physical location … augmented with digital content, as well as social interactions with other participants, can enhance the user experience and provide the media industry with new options and business models”.
Using the Nokia N900 and adding physical location elements, mixed reality, a live actor and a physical movie set, users are guided through the story interacting with the real world around them, the brand says.
Nokia adds that The Westwood Experience can be seen as a new form of 3D reality show, with real streets and buildings providing the story locations for the virtual characters and the audience walking through the story.
