Nissan cools the Cube with ice… tattoos
Cool it. Nissan UK has put the Cube in an ice cube. Well, tattoo artist Henry Hate – the man responsible for Amy Winehouse’s skin creative – has stuck the car brand’s latest model in an eight tonne block of ice measuring 2.4 by 2.6 metres and placed it in Potter’s Fields Park on London’s South Bank.
The tattoo-ed Cube in cube landed by the River Thames today and will remain outdoors for a limited period, for obvious reasons (though it is rather chilly in the capital right now).
“Thought to be the first tattoo ice sculpture in the world, the art installation is being created to mark the launch of the Nissan Cube,” the motor marque says.
“The stylish car is already enjoying cult status in Japan, and the tattoo ice cube will actually contain a Cube car frozen at its centre which will gradually emerge as the ice melts away over the course of three days.”
Wait, there’s more.
The installation also boasts an interactive sensor panel which allows visitors to light up different parts of Hate’s tattoo design.
