Listen to the sound of the car
Beat it. Hyundai is aiming to propel its i30 model into the hands of young drivers by giving the hatchback a music gig in the UK. The car maker tasked Brazen Productions to create a website, 30beats.co.uk, which is dedicated to music made using the 30 Beats soundtrack based on the sound of the i30. Visitors can download some samples, remix them, add a few visuals and then post the video via YouTube to be judged by the online audience.
“Firstly we spent a day in a huge studio at The Pie Factory, part of Salford’s soon to be Media City UK, messing around with a car,” says Hyundai about laying down the recording. “A fiddler’s dream… pressing every button, opening and closing every door and flap and revving the engine in any way we could. It is truly amazing how many sounds there are not including the obvious horn. The resounding favourite for us was the hydraulic ‘whoosh’ of the boot opening.
