Honda makes cars, makes film

hondaBy Steve Mullins. Car sourcing. Honda is tasking drivers with steering a camera-equipped CR-Z hybrid around Europe for its Live Every Litre campaign. The roadsters will be followed by Swiss filmmaker Claudio Von Planta who will be toting his own camera. He will then knit together all the footage for a feature-length documentary.
“To celebrate the launch of the CR-Z we want to do something we’ve never done before – we want to co-create and crowdsource a multilingual documentary film. A film about the extraordinary journeys real people go on in their lives,” the brand says. “We’re interested in those journeys we say we’ll go on, but never do – the journeys that take us somewhere new, somewhere scary, somewhere fun, somewhere different.
“That could mean re-tracing the journey your ancestors made, following a band, finding a lost relative, looking for love, fame or fortune, saying hello again, saying sorry.”
Yes, Honda wants to document those things which ‘make life worth living’.
Drivers wanting to get their fancy roadwork on film can sign up on the Live Every Litre website and then let it be publicly known exactly what kind of journey they would like to take. They then need to canvass for support across Facebook, Twitter and the like.
“Live Every Litre is going to give those who consume media online the chance to do something unique and different,” says Laura Price, PR exec at Honda Motor Europe. “We hope to give people the opportunity to fulfil long-held ambitions and experience something they can’t in everyday life.’
Von Planta, by the way, has road movie experience, having tracked Ewan McGregor and Charlie Boorman on their global motorbike journeys. Four wheels better than two?
