Game on for the film fest

stellaCan Cannes? Stella Artois has launched a social games-based promo featuring the fictional character Jacques d’Azur, ‘French film producer/director/actor/tennis player/chess master/backgammon champion/waterskiing pioneer and full-time bon-vivant known for his work on the red carpets and swimming pools of the French Riviera’.
Thing is, he’s gone AWOL.
Jacques was last seen in Tahiti where he set sail on his yacht, Bridgette et Anna. The last reported radio contact from him was the message, ‘I have come across an undiscovered island. Amazingly all the inhabitants are beautiful women’. That’s it. No sign of Jacques or his yacht anywhere.
“His last will and testament included an heir to his lavish weekend at the Cannes Film Festival, but the name of the rightful heir on the will is illegible,” Stella says. “An extensive search is under way to find the rightful heir to take Jacques’ place at this year’s Festival.”
So, Jacques won’t be at the fest, but consumers can be. There’s a contest spread across Facebook, Twitter and Flickr and the brand will send 50 VIPs to Cannes. But they have to work out what’s going on via videos, photos, text…
