Fourteen filmmakers for 14 islands
Making movies. The Bahamas is gearing up to offer a 14 Islands Film Challenge to UK cineastes. Next month, the holiday destination’s Tourist Office will begin a search in the UK for 14 filmmakers to travel to the Caribbean to shoot the stories of 14 different islands
“The 14 lucky filmmakers will shoot their films over 14 days, with a local team on each island,” the organizers say. “Filmmakers will be encouraged to portray the islands in their own way – genre, tone and plot are all open to allow for full filmmaker creativity.”
The films will be shown at a red carpet event in the UK, with the overall winner chosen by a panel that will include an as-yet-unnamed ‘A-list director’. A £10,000 grand prize is up for grabs.
