Facebook doles out brand laurels

hmBy Steve Mullins. Social prizes. Facebook has handed out the April ‘Blue Ribbon Awards’ for its platform’s most creative pages to H&M, Starbucks and Vitaminwater. Best destinations are determined by a page’s fan count and interactions with fans.
“By focusing on creating an interactive dialogue with their most ardent fans, rather than simply pushing information, H&M has leveraged the Facebook platform to centralize a global community that shares a common love for the H&M brand,” FB says.
Starbucks gets its commendation for “excellent use of tools such as events, notes and discussions”. FB says the coffee company page, which has an enormous 2.5 million-strong fan base, uses its page to listen and engage.
Coca-Cola’s Vitaminwater get praise for its LeBron versus Kobe campaign which asks fans to vote for the greatest of all time. For the uninitiated, we’re talking basketball, and James and Bryant, respectively. We hear Kobe has a more polished jump shot…
“Users who become a fan of Vitaminwater have access to discussions, polls, activities and exclusive content around these two players (and Vitaminwater partners),” says FB. “Over 21k votes have been cast and thousands of comments been made. With this unique and fun campaign Vitaminwater has grown its fan base and made real connections with users throughout the country.”
