Don’t let AR mess with our breakfast

Milky AR. Nothing’s safe from the onslaught of augmented reality. Not breakfast. Not your cereal box. French software company Dassault has come up with an AR campaign that messes with Nestlé’s Chocapic early-morning nourishment to promo the movie Arthur & The Revenge of Maltazard. And what is it these brands are doing with their impressive range of tech tools? Why, they’re turning that Chocapic carton into a 3D augmented reality videogame, of course.
It involves the usual business of flashing an AR symbol at a webcam so that all kinds of video imagery can pour over that cereal box. And a lot of user twisting and turning makes that little ball drop down a series of chutes.
Where’s the milk? Why did we get out of bed? Yes, we still reckon AR’s one big yawn…
