cool creative: a video metropolis

  • Sharebar

Prize picks. Online and mobile digital content outfit Babelgum has pulled in 450 entries for its Babelgum Metropolis Art Prize and has assembled them online for communal voting. The company is promising ‘the best and edgiest artists working in any medium, from performance art, painting and photography to sculpture, installation and new media’ all wrapped up in short-form video.
The Audience Award is worth tens of thousands of dollars, plus the chance to have work displayed on jumbo monitors in New York’s Times Square. The Grand Prize and The Best Street Art Video Award will be judged by a panel headed by actress Isabella Rosellini, who is also a video artist of note.
What to expect when you click on all those clips? Well, Babelgum said it wanted to be ‘inspired, challenged, excited, awed, moved, intrigued and weirded-out’. So there’s plenty of room for creativity… and maybe content that will catch a brand’s eye.
