Painted Love à la Cartier

cartierCartier has partnered with French band Air and video directors Waverly (LCD Soundsystem, The Rapture, Deathcab for Cutie, TV On The Radio) to create a video, Painted Love, about New York, says Maria Stadtmueller. Painted Love revisits the myth of Pygmalion and Galatea, the impossible encounter between an artist and his muse. The film is about a young painter wandering at night in downtown Manhattan looking for his love. The film takes place in an artist’s loft in downtown Manhattan. Music by Air, of course.


Longchamp dons web Heels

longchampFrench luxury brand Longchamp today launches an online drama series, Heels, on the French, German and UK websites of AuFeminin.com (SoFeminine.co.uk to British audiences), says Mark Terry. The seven-part series, created by The Makers Entertainment, will run for five weeks and follow the lives of workers at a fashion mag, Shine.


Two films for Chivas

ChivasScotch whisky Chivas Regal and ad agency Euro RSCG London tasked 2010 Academy Award Winner Joachim Back with shooting two films based on friendship.

The shorts have been posted on Facebook, Chivas.com and the Chivas YouTube channel. The first Here’s To Big Bear, follows Joe, Sammy, Nicolas and Emilio as they find themselves stranded at a train station in the middle of nowhere after getting off at the wrong stop.


AT&T & the bands

at&tAT&T is bringing bands blink-182 and Gym Class Heroes to three screens – TV, PC and smartphone – in the US. The comms brand is giving its U-verse customers exclusive concert footage from blink-182’s 7 October Las Vegas concert, plus an in-depth look at life on the road with the band, filmed by Mike Millette (the winner of AT&T’s search for aspiring filmmakers, journalists and multimedia storytellers). Fans can also watch the bands’ favourite movies on demand.


Music by Guess

guessFashion brand Guess has partnered with GQ magazine to develop a mini-series featuring hip hop artist Theophilus London, says Steve Mullins.

Guess is hosting the exclusive five-part series on its Facebook page, with initial clips showing the artist speaking about his indie hip hop style music and fashion inspirations. The final two videos will highlight a day in the life of London.


YouTube goes TV

youtube_genYouTube is planning to compete with satellite and cable TV providers by rolling out around 100 original channels of professional content over the coming year, says Maria Stadtmueller. The video site has partnered with a number of content producers, up-and-coming media companies and celebrities who will programme the new channels, among them Warner Bros, FremantleMedia, Vice Media, The Wall Street Journal, Fawn and Lionsgate.
