Belgian pitch far from perfect
Long letter. The Belgian ad world has gone on strike. Well, it’s a so-called Virtual Strike, meaning that participating ad agencies – among them the likes of Saatchi, Punta Linea, VVL BBDO, Famous, Kunstmaan – have shut down their websites for a week. There’s still something to see online, though, in the form of an open letter that runs from one agency destination to the next.
The whole no-show has been organised by ACC Belgium, or the Association of Communication Companies, a trade body, and it and its members are unhappy with the way the pitch process works in Belgium.
The big gripe is that there used to be some kind of rule that no more than three agencies should be invited to pitch for any one piece of business, but that’s gone by the wayside and the process has got very crowded. And this is a waste of resource and it’s the client who will suffer for that.
The word is out.
