Pynchon’s Inherent voiceover

viceBy Steve Mullins. Trail it. No new book is complete without a trailer nowadays. Last month we showed you a cool piece of creative in the form of a clip to promo a new graphic novel, Seductive Espionage, The World Of Yuki 7, from artist Kevin Dart. Then we brought you not one but three trailers for Ministry of Sound co-founder James Palumbo’s new book, Tomas.
Now we have a clip from a real literary heavyweight, Thomas Pynchon. To pump up the volume for the writer’s new book, Inherent Vice, Penguin USA has come up with clip that runs just shy of three minutes and features private eye Doc Sportello who “comes, occasionally, out of a marijuana haze to watch the end of an era as free love slips away and paranoia creeps in with the LA fog”.
The trailer features shots of a Southern California surf community with Doc reading from the book. Doc, it seems, is Thomas Pynchon himself doing voiceover work.
brand-e.biz: Nice evocative stuff – can’t wait for Salinger to come to the mic for his next…
